About renting in London
When looking for a place to live be careful who you deal with. Most English Letting agents charge large fees and once you are in a property they do not
always provide further service.
Be careful about handing over money to people you do not know. Ask whether your new landlord is in the deposit protection scheme. If you are renting a room as a lodger in a home where your landlord also lives then your landlord does not legally have to be in a deposit protection scheme. In these circumstances it is best to look at any contract offered before handing over any deposit money.
About learning English in London
Many Japanese people will be taking classes in English but there are other things which you can do for free which will help develop your understanding of English. For example, there are many free talks at museums and galleries which can be very enjoyable to attend and help with your listening skills.
When going to such talks you should make full use of them as a "free" lesson. before attending look at the subject that is going to be talked about and try and learn as much relevant vocabulary as possible. Try and prepare three questions about the subject so that you will have a chance to speak and interact.
